1. Drawings, models and revisions
Include a legible PDF drawing showing dimensions, units, tolerances and notes. A STEP model can provide additional geometry context. Label each file with the part number and revision, and identify which document controls if the drawing and model differ. For a revised order, point out the changes instead of relying on the filename alone.
2. Material and starting stock
State the requested material grade and any required condition or material documentation. Explain whether stock will be customer supplied or included in the quotation. If a casting, forging or existing component needs further machining, describe its incoming condition and include available stock information. List any acceptable material alternatives for review.
3. Quantity, size and part shape
Give the quantity per part number, any separate sample quantity and the expected repeat-order pattern. Include overall dimensions and estimated weight when available; label estimates clearly. Large or heavy parts require a drawing-based feasibility review of stock, workholding, handling and process needs.
4. Functional features and finishing
Identify critical datums, fits, mating surfaces, threads and surface-finish requirements on the drawing. Specify heat treatment, coating or other finishing requirements and which dimensions apply after treatment. Explain important assembly relationships. For cylindrical parts, see the CNC turning overview and shaft machining page for related drawing-review topics.
5. Inspection and acceptance
State which features need inspection, the requested report format and any sampling or traceability requirements. Include the acceptance criteria that matter to the part's function. If a particular inspection method, certificate or test record is required, name it for review. Its availability and inclusion must be confirmed in the agreed quotation or technical scope.
6. Destination and supply scope
Provide the destination country and delivery location, requested schedule, packaging needs and contact details. Clarify whether the request covers machined parts only or additional finishing, assembly or documentation. Price, timing, delivery responsibilities and any open technical points need confirmation after review. The CNC machining service page explains the broader enquiry process.
